26,000+ words. YES.

Over the past 3ish weeks, I’ve been able to pick up writing for my book again. It feels SO good to be adding word count and getting my story up to the present day (literally). Over the past few days, I’ve actually been going back to the beginning and starting the editing process. I thought this part was going to suck ass and just really challenge my motivation, but it’s actually been very productive. And the best news: in just 9 days, I’m going to be joining my hubs on part of his work trip….and I’m going to PORTLAND, OREGON!!! I could not be more excited. First, it’s been on my list of cities to visit so I’m checking off a life goal. Second, I’m going to have chunks of dedicated time to write. This never happens. I typically write for about 30-45 minutes a day in the morning before our school routines start. It’s all my schedule currently allows and I can only write in the morning. My brain after a day with the kiddos is absolute mush and sounds like crap. So, for about four days, I’m going to explore this new city, pop into every coffee shop I can… and write, write, write. Oh, and I’m going to look cute in my new rain coat and boots, too =)

Other cool things: I really think that this year is the year that I’ve been waiting for. I believe this year is when my son will talk and that this year is when we’ll get to put a woman behind bars. This is also the year that I’ll publish my book and tell our full story (at least our story so far). I know that the healing and recovery process will probably go way beyond 2021.

Things I’m currently so grateful for: the IEP process, my son’s behavior therapist coming back from maternity leave, ADHD medication that’s working and my first grader reading his first book!!! Milestones baby. Loving every single one.

So, I’m writing a book (again). YES.
